Labia Reduction in Cologne for an aesthetic Intimate Zone
The intimate zone is a very sensitive and personal area of our body. For a long time, talking about it in public was considered taboo. Yet many women want a physical change. Reasons for a Labia Reduction
The desire for labia reduction can have various reasons. Like any other part of the body, the labia minora vary genetically from woman to woman. If the labia minora are enlarged, they protrude clearly from the labia majora. This can lead to discomfort and even pain in the vulva caused by friction during sport, everyday life or sexual intercourse. Enlarged labia are classified into four different types:
- Normal type: The labia minora enclose the labia minora and the clitoral hood. This type is preferred by most women.
- Type 1: The labia minora are enlarged and protrude clearly between the labia majora.
- Type 2: The labia minora are puckered and protrude beyond the labia majora.
- Type 3: The labia minora are fissured.
- Type 4: The labia minora protrude asymmetrically between the labia majora.
Many women also want labiaplasty for aesthetic reasons. Labia that are too long or asymmetrical are seen as a flaw and do not correspond to the current ideal of beauty. For young women in particular, this can lead to a great deal of suffering and a disturbed sex life. At the PALMKLINIK, it is important to us to discuss your reasons discreetly and empathetically, because not every labiaplasty operation is medically justifiable due to social pressure.
In addition to genetics, pregnancies or the natural ageing process can also lead to stretching or slackening of the tissue in the genital area and thus promote enlarged labia.
Labia Reduction – Surgical Techniques
Depending on the desired result and the condition of the body, we use different surgical techniques to reduce the labia. We basically differentiate between three surgical techniques. These are all low-risk, minimally invasive and promise a very natural and aesthetic result.
- Reduction below the clitoris
In this surgical technique, a laser scalpel is used to make an incision with millimeter precision in an upward arc towards the clitoris. The excess tissue is removed in such a way that the natural appearance of the labia minora is preserved. Asymmetries can also be corrected. In all techniques, the wound area is closed with self-dissolving sutures.
- Reduction and additional tightening of the clitoral hood
This surgical technique is used when the labia minora and clitoral hood are enlarged. Excess tissue from the labia minora is first removed in an arc towards the clitoris. The excess skin on the clitoral hood is then carefully removed. With this incision technique, no nerve tissue is touched so that the sensitivity of the clitoris is not impaired.
- Reduction, tightening of the clitoral hood and correction of the clitoris
The first two surgical techniques are supplemented by a displacement of the clitoris. This may be necessary to correct a protruding clitoris caused by the reduction of the labia and tightening of the clitoral hood. The clitoris is lowered using a special technique to create a natural and harmonious overall result. This technique also does not affect the clitoris itself, so there is no loss of sensation.
Labia Reduction – Results
After labiaplasty, the labia are symmetrical and barely protrude between the labia minora, if at all. The result is harmonious and natural, the intimate area looks firmer and more youthful overall. Disturbing brown discoloration on the labia or excess tissue on the clitoris can also be removed. Problems with rubbing of the vulva are significantly reduced and often completely eliminated.
Labia Reduction – Treatment Procedure
As before any plastic surgery procedure, we will discuss your wishes in an individual consultation. During this consultation, we will also explain the exact course of treatment and give you tips on the right aftercare. This is followed by a clinical examination, which allows us to make a medical assessment and plan the necessary surgical steps. At your request, a female member of staff can be present.
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia or, if necessary, under analog sedation (twilight sleep). Labiaplasty surgery usually takes between 60-90 minutes.
Labia Reduction – Aftercare
Postoperative care of the wound area is essential to ensure rapid healing without complications and optimal treatment success. After labiaplasty, there is often moderate to severe swelling of the labia. This is completely normal and should not cause you any concern. Please note the following aftercare recommendations:
- Organize pick-up and rest after the surgery
- Take painkillers as required
- Apply antiseptic ointment to the wound area
- Change the dressing and check the wound the next day in the clinic
- Careful cooling
- Wear tight underwear for compression immediately after the operation (reduces swelling), then wear loose clothing
- No exertion and little walking for the first 1 to 3 days
- Shower after 3 days with water, without soap
- No stress or rubbing of the wound area for 4 to 6 weeks (riding, jogging, sexual intercourse, tampons etc.)
- Use a compress or bandage for approx. 2 weeks to avoid touching the labia
- After 2 weeks, squeeze the labia between your fingers several times a day to improve scar formation
Frequently asked Questions about Labiaplasty
You probably have many questions about labia reduction in Cologne. To make your decision easier, we will answer the most common ones below. However, please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. You are welcome to arrange an initial, non-binding consultation at the PALMKLINIK.
How much does a labia reduction cost?
The costs for a labia reduction are very individual. They can vary significantly depending on the method chosen and the desired result. As a rule, you can expect costs from €3,000.00.
We charge a fee of €80.00 for the consultation; the consultation fee is reduced to €40.00 for immediate treatment.
Is labia reduction covered by health insurance?
A purely aesthetic labiaplasty is not covered by health insurance. However, if labia reduction is medically advisable and necessary, at least part of the costs may be covered by health insurance.
Is labiaplasty painful?
The actual operation is not associated with any pain, as the procedure is performed under local anesthesia or twilight sleep. As the anesthetic wears off, mild to moderate wound pain may initially occur as a result of the operation. Painkillers and light cooling provide relief.
When can you see the final result after a labiaplasty?
The final result can be seen once the swelling has completely subsided and the wound area has healed. The healing process varies depending on the method and the amount of skin tissue removed. This can take between 6 and 12 weeks.
Can there be problems during childbirth after a labia reduction?
Labia reduction does not cause any problems during childbirth. However, it is important that the healing process is complete at the time of birth so that there is no additional pain or complications.
At what age can a labia reduction be performed?
Labia reduction is usually only performed in adulthood and after full physical development. In serious cases, labiaplasty may also be possible earlier if the procedure is medically necessary and parental consent has been obtained.
