PRP treatment in Cologne: Autologous blood therapy for youthful skin and full hair
Even in the Middle Ages, people knew about the healing powers of their own blood. Even today, medicine continues to make use of its rich active ingredients. The positive effects of PRP treatment are as diverse as its areas of application. In the field of aesthetics, autologous blood therapy with PRP (platelet-rich plasma) promises excellent results for hair loss and provides effective skin rejuvenation. Platelet-rich plasma stimulates the body’s own self-healing, regeneration, and growth processes, supporting the formation of new cells, collagen, and elastin.
It is important to us that you feel comfortable in your own skin. Autologous blood therapy can be the right way to achieve youthful, healthy skin and a full head of hair. What is PRP?
Autologous blood therapy with PRP is a relatively new treatment method that is used successfully in various medical fields. Skin rejuvenation PRP therapy originated in the USA, where it is colloquially referred to as a vampire facelift due to the use of blood. Platelet-rich plasma can be translated into German as “blutplättchenreiches” or “konzentriertes Plasma” (platelet-rich or concentrated plasma).
Like white blood cells (leukocytes) and red blood cells (erythrocytes), platelets (thrombocytes) are cellular components of blood. PRP contains high levels of growth factors and proteins that play an important role in wound healing, blood clotting, and cell renewal. Since it involves the body’s own blood plasma, PRP treatment is particularly well tolerated and gentle.
The effects of PRP at a glance:
- Formation of collagen and elastin
- Improved wound healing and blood clotting
- Cell renewal
- Activation of healing processes
- Improvement of microcirculation
- Regeneration of connective tissue
- Anti-inflammatory effect
- Stimulation of hair growth
How does PRP work for hair loss?
The vampire facelift is particularly popular because of its skin-rejuvenating effect. PRP can also be used successfully to treat hair loss (alopecia). In cases of age-related hair loss, it can be injected into the scalp or hair root. There, it triggers the body’s own (autologous) cell renewal processes, which can reduce hair loss and stimulate new hair growth.
How does PRP treatment work at PALMKLINIK?
The patient’s own blood must first be processed. To do this, we take a small amount of blood (approx. 30 ml). Our experts then prepare the blood for about 8-10 minutes at high speed in a special centrifuge. The aim here is to separate the blood components in such a way that the platelet-rich plasma is isolated. The PRP is then collected using a cannula for further use. If necessary, we can also enrich the plasma fluid in this process with additional active ingredients such as hyaluronic acid.
PRP therapy – Treatment procedure
First, we clarify everything important in a consultation and determine the treatment goal and the skin areas to be treated. During this appointment, we will provide you with recommendations for action. Please refrain from consuming nicotine and alcohol before the procedure and consult your doctor about taking blood-thinning medication.
The actual PRP therapy then takes place. We apply a numbing ointment to the skin and begin the injection after a short period of time. The PRP is injected into the skin using a very fine needle. The entire procedure, including blood collection, preparation, and injection, takes about one hour.
PRP therapy – Aftercare
After treatment, the skin may be slightly reddened, which is completely normal and should not cause you any concern. For an ideal healing process and the best possible results, you should follow these recommendations:
- Apply light cooling compresses
- Avoid saunas and swimming pools for about 7 days.
- Do not use makeup for approximately 3 days.
- Refrain from intense exercise for 3 days
- Avoid sunbathing for at least 2 weeks, use high UV protection
- Initial abstinence from alcohol and nicotine
What results can you expect after PRP treatment?
Thanks to the body’s own regeneration and healing processes, you can expect the following results:
- Reduction in wrinkle depth
- Improvement of skin texture and appearance
- Skin tightening
- General skin rejuvenation
- Increased hair growth and reduced hair loss
- Reduction of scars and pigment spots
- Improvement of skin health
- Accelerated wound healing
Frequently asked questions about PRP treatment
You probably have many questions about vampire facelifts in Cologne. To help you make your decision, we answer the most frequently asked questions below. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. Feel free to schedule a non-binding consultation appointment at the PALMKLINIK.
How much does PRP therapy cost?
Possible immediately, avoid intense physical activity for a few days. You can generally expect to pay from €500 for treatment.
When will we see the final result?
The skin begins its regenerative processes immediately after treatment. You will see the full results after about 4 weeks.
How long does the effect of PRP therapy last?
The duration of action varies greatly from person to person. With consistent aftercare, a good skincare routine, and an overall healthy lifestyle, you can significantly prolong the positive results. The results usually last for 1-3 years.
How much time should there actually be between two sessions?
Before further treatment can be carried out, the skin must have completely regenerated. This may take approximately 8 weeks.
How many sessions are necessary?
Depending on the desired result and individual hair and skin type, several sessions may be necessary. For ideal results, between 3 and 5 sessions are necessary.
Is PRP therapy painful?
You feel little to no pain. We use very fine needles that cause only a slight pulling sensation. The local anesthetic used numbs the area of skin. After treatment, the skin may feel slightly tight or burn.
Does PRP therapy have any side effects?
The use of the patient’s own blood virtually eliminates the possibility of negative reactions or allergies. Autologous PRP is extremely safe, gentle, and effective. In very rare cases, complications may arise from the injection with the needle.
