Blepharoplasty in Cologne for a youthful and fresh appearance

Eyelid Lift – upper Eyelid Lift and lower Eyelid Lift?
A distinction is made between an upper eyelid lift and a lower eyelid lift:
The aim of an upper eyelid lift is to remove so-called drooping eyelids. An upper eyelid lift creates a fresh and youthful appearance.
Lower eyelid blepharoplasty, on the other hand, is primarily concerned with removing tear sacs.
Eyelid Lift – surgical Procedure
In order for blepharoplasty to be performed, it is important that sufficient tissue is available and that no disease is present.
If the criteria for surgery are met, the operation is usually performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia. Anesthesia is usually not necessary. The procedure does not take longer than an hour in total.
Upper Eyelid Lift Procedure (drooping Eyelids)
The aim of an upper eyelid lift is to remove drooping eyelids. The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia within 30 to 60 minutes.
During an upper eyelid lift, excess skin is removed from the eyelid. This makes the actual upper eyelid more visible and the eye appears more awake and larger. The incision with the scalpel or laser runs along the eyelid crease in a semi-circle from above the inner corner of the eyelid to the side. Depending on the extent of the excess, the incision extends into the lateral smile lines. Depending on the findings, sagging muscles and fatty tissue may also be removed.
Lower Eyelid Lift Procedure (Tear Sacs)
Tightening the lower eyelid eliminates bags under the eyes and wrinkled lower eyelids. Dark shadows under the eyes and sagging lower eyelid edges can also be corrected. During a lower eyelid lift, we remove excess skin and fatty tissue through fine incisions. These usually run directly under the base of the eyelashes and are almost invisible later on.
Another treatment option that leaves no visible scars is a so-called transconjunctival incision. The incision runs through the conjunctiva. It can also be combined with eyelid lift corrections in the case of a drooping eyelid or with a lower eyelid correction.
Eyelid Lift – Aftercare
After treatment, you should cool your eyes well to reduce swelling. Dark rooms and little direct sunlight are beneficial, sports and sauna visits should be avoided at first.
For contact lens wearers, this procedure means having to switch to glasses for a while. Bruising and swelling should be expected for at least a week. After two weeks at the latest, it will no longer be obvious to outsiders that the operation has taken place.
Non-surgical Options (Eyelid Lift without Surgery)
If you would like to have an eyelid lift without surgery, there are other non-surgical procedures that are particularly promising for more gentle changes.
Eyelid Lift with Hyaluronic Acid
Eyelid lifting with hyaluronic acid is another method that is performed non-surgically: This eyelid lift is often performed in addition to a surgical lift to further reduce wrinkles on the eye.
Hyaluronic acid is suitable for many wrinkle treatments, as it is a powerful moisturizer that can easily fill in the hollows. The hyaluronic acid is injected into the area under the eyes. As the treatment is hardly painful, you do not need an anesthetic.
Eyelid Lift with Laser
During a laser eyelid lift, the top layer of skin is removed using a strong beam of light. This causes a healing process that leads to new, firmer skin – just like with the plasma pen.
The laser wavelength should have a high absorption for water. On the one hand, this causes the skin cells with a high water content to evaporate explosively. On the other hand, the laser also works in deeper layers of the skin. The heating causes the age-related stretched collagen fibers to shrink and the inflammation-like processes lead to the formation of new collagen and elastin.

What does an eyelid lift cost?
The costs vary depending on which eyelid lift method you choose. As an eyelid lift is usually performed for aesthetic reasons, the patient must pay for it themselves. Only if vision is severely impaired can an application be made for the costs of eyelid correction to be covered.
- Upper eyelid lift: € 3,000.00
- Lower eyelid lift: € 3,500.00
- Upper and lower eyelid lift: €5,200.00
We charge a fee of €80.00 for the consultation; the consultation fee is reduced to €40.00 for immediate treatment.
Is eyelid surgery painful?
Depending on the individual requirements and wishes, the procedure usually takes place under local anesthesia, in twilight sleep or rarely under general anesthesia. You will therefore not experience any pain.
How long does it take to heal after an eyelid lift?
Healing is usually quick and uncomplicated and can be supported by regular cooling. Possible swelling disappears after just a few days and any bruising after around ten to 14 days.
How long does an eyelid lift last?
The final result is clearly visible after around three to four months. How long the eyelid lift lasts can vary greatly from person to person. As a rule, the positive effects of an eyelid lift last for around ten years.
